Harlequins looking for revenge when Newcastle Falcons return to The Stoop under lights next week.

After a frustrating defeat to Newcastle in Round 2 of the Premiership Rugby Cup on Sunday, Harlequins will have the chance to get even when the Falcons return to The Stoop on Friday 16th November to play under lights.

Sitting sixth in the table, Harlequins have shown great fight this season, having picked up points in each of their six matches, winning two of them and earning bonus points in the rest.

Their last two fixtures in the competition were particularly enthralling, with a win away at Kingsholm against Gloucester Rugby, followed by an intense evening encounter against Saracens under the lights in South West London.

The noise at The Stoop that night was the best Head of Rugby Paul Gustard said he heard at a club game in over five years, and the players and coaches will be urging Quins’ brilliant supporters to raise the roof again when Newcastle visit.

“The noise and energy was the best I have experienced at a club ground in over five years,” Gustard said at the time. “It helped drive the players forward during the momentum shifts in the game.”

Despite sitting in last position in the Premiership, Falcons enjoyed some notable results on the European stage with victories against Montpelier Rugby and former giants RC Toulonnais at the Stade Mayol in October and have got a win and a draw from the Premiership Rugby Cup campaign so far.

Before the visit of Newcastle in the Gallagher Premiership, Quins have an important trip to Exeter in the Premiership Rugby Cup this weekend. Speaking after Sunday’s fixture against Newcastle in that competition winger Cadan Murley expressed the team's frustration and said that it was a match that the home side should have won: “We let Falcons back into the game with our lack of accuracy but we will take this hurt into next week and use it when we travel to Exeter.”

Forwards Coach Alex Codling added that the squad need to take the positives from the defeat against Newcastle when they travel to Devon this week. “The players are certainly feeling the pain after that loss," he said. They know that they should have had the opportunity to finish that match off. They’ve recognised that, and there’s no better challenge than going down to Sandy Park next week.”

After Harlequins' trip to Exeter this weekend the Club take on Newcastle Falcons in Round 7 of the Gallagher Premiership on Friday 16th November (kick-off, 19:45) and tickets are still available for this fixture. Go to or call 020 8410 6000.
